About DMP – Key Operating Features

Key Operating Features

We wish to emphasise certain characteristics of the way in which we undertake the services we provide.

Transparency in our relationships

As a service provider, DMP offers complete transparency of its operations to suppliers and customers alike.  This includes grower returns where all costs are clearly identified and documented from market sale back to final grower payment.  This ensures trust and openness between all parties, and drives us to maximise performance.

DMP also has a long history of taking growers to meet customers and bringing customers to visit growers ensuring frank and open communication between all parties.

Commitment to quality

Quality is fundamental to success in the produce industry.  By working with suppliers and logistics operators, DMP continually strives, with our customers, to achieve the best possible out turn in the market.

Quality parameters are set by the market and DMP staff will ensure that they are followed by the packhouse.  DMP staff visit the producers throughout the growing  season and by the time of harvest have a full picture of the profiles of all our growers' crops.

In addition to our own field staff we employ Agriquality, SGS and the Quality Bureau to work under contract.  We invite and welcome the involvement of buyers in scrutinising our quality management practices to ensure that expectations are met. We have grown and exported certified organic produce for over ten years.  This is a very demanding role that has set the benchmark for a number of our practices in other produce groups.

Our responsibility to provide feedback

An integral part of what we do is the accumulation of "know how" from various sources, including the market, and the adaptation of this to individual growers circumstances.  This allows new techniques to be adapted to the New Zealand environment.

Experience in the business and time in the market place have added significant value to this so we can confidently transfer knowledge directly, or through advisory groups, to growers.  We consider that an important part of our role is to assist our customers and growers to develop their business beyond just the next growing season.

Specialist importer programmes

We have refined the art of matching retail programmes to products available from New Zealand.  We believe that pre-programming is the best security for successful large scale movement of fresh products into the market place.  This is accompanied by a wholesale programme to give maximum flexibility to both buyer and seller.
